Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora,你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Build tools to empower other teams for self-service in accurately collecting user behaviour data.
  • Scale the platform to accommodate the ever-increasing volume of data we collect.
  • Work primarily on web frontend development using TypeScript, with potential involvement in other languages and environments.
  • Demonstrate initiative and take ownership in achieving goals, improving processes, and implementing solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-team collaboration to explore new insights and improvements aligning with our objectives.
  • Debug and resolve technical problems to ensure the reliability and performance of our systems.

You're probably a match if

  • Proven experience in software development, particularly in client-side applications.
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and React.
  • Ability to write efficient, reusable code for UI components in React using TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of automated testing techniques (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
  • Passion for developing tools to support internal customers in excelling at their roles.
  • Flexibility to contribute to diverse client-side applications beyond UI development.

Nice to have:

  • Background in data and product analytics.

About the team

The Product Analytics team is responsible for managing internal tools, services, and processes used by hundreds of Canvanauts to collect first-party user behaviour data. Our mission is to "Empower Canvanauts to understand how they influence the Canva user experience through behavioural data." Achieving this mission involves leveraging a custom in-house platform tailored to Canva's needs and methodologies. This platform facilitates various use cases, including data-driven decision-making, A/B testing, personalisation, and recommendations.

About the Role

We're on the lookout for frontend engineers eager to immerse themselves in the dynamic realm of product analytics. As a valued member of our team, you will collaborate closely with individuals from diverse specialties on projects that profoundly impact Canva as a whole. Product analytics serves as the cornerstone of our growth strategy, and through your contributions to our internal platform, you'll directly influence nearly every service within the company. While the work may not be externally facing, it is undeniably pivotal to Canva's collective success, driving our vision and strategy forward.

What's in it for you?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a stack of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.

Here's a taste of what's on offer:

  • Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too
  • Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers
  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
  • Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and supports you personally
