THE ROLE
Group Business Development Managers (BDMs) create happy guests and group leaders by identifying potential sales opportunities, building relationships with assigned and new group accounts and group leaders, and generating and increasing sales for the business.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
The preferred candidate has noteworthy experience in the following areas:
- A Passion for achieving sales goals in a self-directed/managed environment
- Developing new business opportunity
- Maintaining and growing existing sales channels of business
- Utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and tools to manage sales activities and production.
- Having bottom-line accountability
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Strong public speaking and group presentation skills (remotely and in person)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Business acumen (business knowledge, competitor awareness, excellent organization strategies)
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED
The preferred candidate has noteworthy experience in the following areas:
- Travel Industry knowledge a plus, but not required.
THE POSITION
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the following results:
- Generating and increasing sales within assigned accounts
- Generate sales by targeting new opportunities and through call campaigns, emails, and follow-up.
- Generate sales by developing existing group business and re-engagement of previous group leaders, while looking for new opportunities within new and existing channels
- Achieving established financial objectives, hitting sales goals, achieving materialization goals of groups and other key performance metrics as assigned.
- Developing partnerships with the group department and other internal partners to understand the sales, booking, and fulfillment processes for group travel.
- Maintaining contacts, group activities, and opportunities in customer relationship management system to develop a group production database.
- Expressing ideas for process improvements to increase flexibility, reduce administrative costs, and increase interactivity with customers.
- Contributing to a team effort by accomplishing related results or projects as needed
- This position may require 10% — 15% overnight travel including some weekends.
- Keeping management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual account analyses.
- Monitoring competitor products, services, marketing, and sales strategy
- Microsoft SharePoint knowledge recommended
EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
THE DEPARTMENT
The Customer Sales Groups department creates happy guests with sales success and provides outstanding service and support. They increase passenger sales through the direct consumer and direct group sales channels. They develop and maintain emerging markets channels by integrating sales and marketing strategies to establish direct buyer relationships. They pursue new channels of distribution, as well as managing, directing, and growing the Division.
