Job Description

Role Overview

Maven is looking for a Product leader to own student growth on our marketplace. This is a role for a mid-career growth PM or marketer who wants to help build the growth engine for an already growing company. Your primary KPIs will be Maven-led leads and enrollments.

Details

You’ll build our growth engine from the ground up. We have a solid foundation with 30K+ student alumni and 300K+ registered users, but haven’t tested many growth levers because most of our success has come from our instructors who we encourage to market their own courses. There’s a lot of unexplored green space and you’ll help us scope opportunities, define the roadmap, and learn from what’s working.

You’ll be responsible for half our product surface area. You’ll balance time between improving existing channels (e.g. free events, email system, course discovery) and identifying new levers (e.g. referrals, affiliates, SEO, B2B). You’ll own growth and attribution analytics (we use Amplitude and Metabase). At least 50% of your time will be building stuff with your pod.

We’re a lean team which means you’ll collaborate closely with our design lead, marketing lead, 2-3 senior engineers, and co-founders (CEO, CTO). You’ll report into the Head of Product.

Who You Are

We are open to multiple types of backgrounds, but experience in either product, growth, and/or marketing is required. Some expected skills:

  • Product ownership - you’ve collaborated with designers, engineers, and marketers to brainstorm ideas, align on solutions, and launch impactful features.
  • Growth strategy - you’ve evaluated multiple growth opportunities, prioritized to create a roadmap, and built sizable channels.
  • Analytical rigor - you’ve investigated open-ended questions, generated data insights, set goals, assembled dashboards, tracked attribution, and improved systems.
  • User insights - you’ve led UX research, discovered new feature opportunities, and found insights that translate into more user value.
  • Scrappy experimentation - you’ve championed lightweight experiments and can own everything from PRD + prototype + copy + GTM to bring an idea to life.
  • Entrepreneurial energy - you’ve developed strong perspectives, adapted to new information, and done everything it takes to grow from 0→1.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary of $160-$220K with significant equity.
  • We’re a 100% distributed team and anyone within 1 hour of US time zones is welcome to apply. We provide a home-office stipend and host multiple in-person off-sites each year.
  • Our benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, access to a 401(k) plan with match, unlimited PTO (3 weeks minimum), and parental leave.

Who We Are

Maven is building the university of tomorrow. We're starting by building the largest marketplace of expert-led cohort-based courses on the Internet. This is a major innovation from existing video-based courses, because cohort-based courses involve a live instructor, an engaging cohort community, and the accountability of a start and end time. Whereas a standard self-paced course has a 5-10% completion rate, Maven's is closer to 70-90%.

We've raised $25 million from Andreessen Horowitz, First Round, and great angel investors. We’re a small, empowered team with momentum. Join us to do the best work of your career.
