    Mentalzon.com facilitates direct access to verified and registered mental health professionals across the UK. We provide the technology and support for specialists like Health Psychologists to build and manage their independent remote practice, reaching clients who can benefit from their unique skills in bridging psychology and physical health.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver Remote Health Psychology Services: Provide specialist online psychological support to individuals based on health psychology principles and evidence-based models (e.g., behaviour change theories, CBT for health conditions, ACT, motivational interviewing).

    • Promote Health Behaviour Change: Design and deliver interventions targeting health-related behaviours such as smoking cessation, weight management, medication adherence, physical activity, and stress management.

    • Support Adjustment to Illness: Conduct psychological assessments and provide interventions to help clients cope with and adjust to chronic health conditions, diagnoses, pain, or medical treatments.

    • Provide Psychoeducation: Offer expert information and psychological strategies related to health conditions, risk factors, and self-management.

    • Adhere to Professional & Ethical Standards: Maintain accurate, confidential client records (GDPR compliant) and practice strictly according to HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and relevant BPS guidelines.

    • Direct Client Management: Manage client communication, scheduling, therapeutic agreements, and fee structures directly.

    • Engage in Specialist Supervision: Participate actively in regular professional supervision appropriate for Health Psychology practice, ideally with an experienced HCPC-registered Health Psychologist.

    • Optional In-Person Work: Offer face-to-face health psychology consultations if you have suitable insured premises, arranged via the platform.

    Essential Requirements

    • HCPC-Approved Qualification: Successful completion of an HCPC-approved programme in Health Psychology. This typically involves either:

      • A BPS-accredited MSc in Health Psychology followed by the BPS Qualification in Health Psychology (Stage 2), OR
      • A BPS-accredited Doctorate in Health Psychology.
    • Mandatory HCPC Registration: Current, unrestricted registration as a Health Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential. Your HCPC registration number must be provided.

    • Relevant Experience: Demonstrable post-qualification experience applying health psychology theory and interventions in practical settings (e.g., healthcare services, public health, occupational health), meeting HCPC standards of proficiency.

    • Appropriate Supervision: Confirmed arrangement for ongoing professional supervision that meets HCPC requirements for Health Psychologists.

    • Professional Indemnity Insurance: Must hold valid professional indemnity insurance covering independent health psychology practice in the UK.

    • Right to Work: Legal entitlement to work on a self-employed basis in the UK.

    • Technical Setup: Reliable high-speed internet access, a suitable device for secure video consultations, and a private, confidential workspace.

    • Core Skills: Expertise in health psychology models, behaviour change techniques, psychological assessment in health contexts, strong communication and rapport-building skills, ethical practice, and self-management.

    Desirable Requirements

    • Chartered Psychologist status with the BPS (CPsychol).

    • Membership of the BPS Division of Health Psychology (DHP).

    • Specialist experience in particular health domains (e.g., long-term conditions management, pain, oncology, cardiac rehabilitation, public health initiatives).

    • Experience delivering psychological interventions remotely.

    • Experience in service development, training, or research in health psychology.
