Job description

The Grid Development Department is responsible for scenario analysis, market analysis and the evaluation of the suitability of various energy sources. Our role is to investigate the future of energy systems in Belgium and Europe. To this extent, we have developed an investment model in ANTARES. However, we would like to see how this compares to PyPsa, an open library for system optimisation. The objective of the internship is to assess the potential gains in terms of process simplicity and computation time (speed) as well as the accuracy of the results.

  • Get ready to dive into the world of PyPsa! Used by academic institutions and organisations across the world, learn about this amazing library and discover the incredible insights it can offer.
  • Explore the possibilities of multi-energy models built at Elia and see how PyPsa can help you optimise them.
  • Then, compare the results, computation time and insights between the models and see how PyPsa can help you make the best decisions.
