About the Growth Team

The Home Care team is looking to revolutionize the way that customers interact with Thumbtack. By better understanding our customers and their homes, personalizing suggestions and creating tailored guides for them, and making it easy to book and re-book pros, our goal is to create a long-term relationship with our customers. In short, we want to become your trusted advisor when it comes to all things home.

Challenge

The team is building a brand new set of features, so we’re trying to balance making sure that we’re thinking ahead and not creating technical debt versus speed of execution. Since this is an entirely new area for Thumbtack, we’re making big bets as to what will be best for both the customer and Thumbtack.

Responsibilities

  • Drive iOS feature projects to completion, focusing on the business and customer impact of those projects

  • Break down large projects into concrete deliverables and milestones that make it easy to track progress

  • Work closely with back-end engineers, product managers, designers, data analysts, and other teams to gather feedback, prioritize projects, and deliver solutions

  • Communicate project status to stakeholders, proactively raising potential blockers and other risks

  • Explore new frameworks and processes while also being able to discuss when (or when not) to use them

  • Participate in a culture that values thoughtful code reviews and frequent deployments

What you’ll need

  • Passionate iOS engineer with experience building, testing, releasing, and maintaining apps written in Swift or Objective-C.

  • Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing apps that users love on the App Store.

  • Cross-functional collaboration and communication. We’re moving quickly, so it’s important for our engineers to communicate their status regularly, proactively bring up potential blockers and risks, and keep our cross-functional partners in the loop.

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience with libraries, frameworks, and services like SwiftUI, GraphQL, and/or Apollo.
