Our purpose is to accelerate the implementation of renewable energy and electrification projects as quickly, easily and successfully as possible for commercial businesses. Beam helps Customers select a Vendor to deliver the project through our Beam Marketplace which ranks offers on price, equipment, and Vendor quality. We also provide advice and services on energy efficiency, carbon strategy and renewable energy to large organisations across Australia.

We are a team of 8 and growing fast so applicants will have the opportunity to progress their careers in a fast-paced start-up environment with plenty of room to grow and diversify their skills. We have a very flexible work culture and will consider people who want to work part-time or full-time and remotely (we all work remotely across Australia). Applicants must be based in Australia as they will be expected to complete site visits and travel interstate for system inspections.

Job Overview

We are looking for two Solar/Battery Engineers to join our team to assist in the assessment, procurement and management of commercial-scale solar and battery projects. We are looking for engineers from graduate level up to 5 years of experience ideally located in VIC & QLD however national applicants welcome. Battery design and implementation experience is preferred but not required. Our Engineers will also be expected to contribute to other business areas including sales, site feasibility assessments, audits and customer meetings and writing reports.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The successful candidates will be expected to complete the following tasks as part of their job description:

  • Collating electricity interval data from customers and utilities to ingest into our software platform

  • Creating solar layouts in Helioscope for rooftop and ground-mount systems per the Australian Standard, incorporating structural and geotechnical limitations

  • Writing and sending proposals to customers and partners

  • Assessing solar and battery options using our Beam platform and providing recommendations to customers

  • Assisting with on-site solar, electrical and efficiency assessments

  • Producing professional engineering reports for customers relating to solar, electrical, and efficiency assessments

  • Sending reports, meeting with and communicating with customers regarding new and existing projects. This includes communicating with customers via email, over the phone, on video and in person

  • Communicating with Vendors ensuring project requirements are met

  • Assisting the procurement process for solar, battery, PFC and EV charging

  • Completing post-install solar and battery audits to help score the installation quality of vendors

  • Writing blog articles and providing input for improving our website

  • Assisting with product development and process improvement

Requirements/Experience:

  • University degree with appropriate engineering, science or finance qualifications

  • Graduate to 5 years of industry experience

  • Experience in solar system design, delivery, and project management

  • Experience using Helioscope or similar PV mapping software

  • Ideally some experience in software development (preferred not required)

  • Driver’s License is preferred

  • Construction Induction White Card and Working Safely from Heights is preferred

Salary Expectation:

The successful applicant can expect their salary to be $50k-120k/yr + Super at full-time, depending on your experience.
