Job Description

ResMed is a global leader in digital health and connected devices helping millions of people in 140+ countries sleep, breathe, and live better lives outside the hospital. We are the world’s #1 provider of cloud-connected CPAP machines and masks for people with sleep apnea. We also provide a suite of connected solutions for people with COPD, asthma, and other chronic respiratory conditions, such as app-connected inhaler sensors and remote-monitoring ventilators – the same connected devices used to help hundreds of thousands of people with COVID-19 keep breathing while battling the virus.

We are looking for a Senior Specialist, Corporate Communications to lead corporate messaging, crisis communications, and executive thought leadership.

Let's talk about responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Communications, you will play a critical role in leading issues and crisis management activities to protect the reputation of the company and developing communications programs that promote the company’s brand and reputation. You will be a key point of contact for corporate media relations, crisis communications, and executive communications. This highly visible role requires an individual who is an excellent writer and can communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external audiences, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the organization, and demonstrate strategic thinking and initiative.

This is a hands-on role with a mix of strategy and execution, where you will:

  • Support the company’s crisis communications program: Set proactive and reactive courses of action to public relations issues and crisis situations. Brief the leadership team and key stakeholders on sensitive and/or controversial issues and prepare scenario plans and recommendations.
  • Manage corporate and executive communications from strategy to execution in support of quarterly earnings, M&A, product launches, events and speaking engagements, and companywide announcements.
  • Work cross functionally with key stakeholders including investor relations, product, legal, medical affairs, and the executive team to develop and execute proactive and reactive programs that align to corporate initiatives and priorities.
  • Develop messaging and content that advances our corporate narrative and aligns with business objectives, including press releases/announcements, articles, bios, fact sheets, talk tracks, and social media content.
  • Develop, manage, and evangelize the company’s crisis communications playbook. Continuously evolve our playbook with new learnings and best practice tactics. Ensure teams are properly trained, and measure engagement and adoption.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key corporate media, directly and through agency partners. Manage media inquiries and prepare company spokespeople for interviews.
  • Ensure the success of our integrated communications efforts – from campaign strategy and execution to the development and implementation of communications plans spanning internal and external tactics.
  • Drive alignment in corporate communications initiatives. Ensure global strategic messaging and brand consistency are reflected in all communications.

Let's talk about qualifications and experience:

  • 10+ years of communications experience working with and providing guidance to executive leaders in a global organization.
  • Proven experience effectively managing crisis communications for a global enterprise in a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated corporate media relations and executive communications experience.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to develop and execute content for audiences that drives understanding of the business, strategy, and goals.
  • Direct experience working for multiple stakeholders and delivering effective communications strategies across channels.
  • Strategic thinker, able to understand the context and connect dots to stay ahead of issues and maximize opportunities, but willing to do the work for effective execution.
  • Proven ability to amplify corporate narrative, drive audience engagement, measure and report on engagement metrics, pivot initiatives as needed, and deliver actionable results/insights back to the business.
  • Excellent project management and follow-through with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including a demonstrated ability to know when problems can be solved unilaterally vs. escalated.
