We value purpose, drive, and curiosity—and we thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Whether in one of our offices in San Jose, CA, Draper, UT, or working remotely, BILLders collaborate to deliver real impact for businesses that need more time in their busy weeks.

At BILL, we listen, learn, and lead—fostering collaboration and a drive for continuous growth. We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that values each person’s unique skills and experiences. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we’d love to hear from you—you might be just what we’re looking for, whether in this role or another.

✨ Let’s give businesses more time for what matters.

Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company:

The Lead Product Designer for Network Growth will lead the design and strategy for features and experiences that drive user acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention of the BILL network (which includes receivers, payers, and vendors). You’ll collaborate closely with multiple cross-functional teams—including product, marketing, and engineering—to understand user needs, identify growth opportunities, and execute on high-impact design initiatives. As a senior team member, you will also mentor other designers, contribute to design standards, and help shape the design culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Network Strategy:
    • Design and implement user-centric experiences that significantly improve the quality of experience to drive higher engagement and value for members and for BILL
    • Use a combination of qualitative insights and quantitative data to iterate on designs that improve conversion rates, reduce churn, and increase user engagement.
  • Cross-Collaboration: Lead cross-functional collaboration by working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Data, and Product Marketing teams. Facilitate seamless communication and alignment across all stakeholders to drive the successful implementation of design strategies that meet both user needs and business goals.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize data and user insights to inform and guide design decisions. Continuously analyze user behavior and product performance metrics to refine and optimize design strategies, ensuring they are backed by solid data and aligned with business objectives.
  • User-Centric Design: Conduct user research to uncover and deeply understand user needs, pain points, and preferences. Translate these insights into design strategies that enhance user experience and support business objectives, particularly in optimizing payment processes and reducing delinquency rates.
  • End-to-End Design Process: Own the entire design process, from initial research and ideation to design, testing, validation, and final implementation. Ensure that every design is intuitive, user-friendly, and meets the highest standards of quality.
  • Innovation: Develop and implement innovative, adaptable design strategies that address both end-user and internal team requirements. Create tools, guidelines, and documentation that enable internal teams to adopt and contribute to design standards.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and inspire other designers, fostering a collaborative and positive team culture. Encourage continuous learning and professional growth within the design team.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly present design concepts, strategies, and updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the broader business vision.
  • Design System Management: Contribute to and help evolve the design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across products. Advocate for design standards and best practices within the organization.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop high-fidelity prototypes and lead usability testing sessions to validate design concepts. Iterate on designs based on feedback and test results to ensure optimal user experiences.
  • A/B Testing and Experimentation:
    • Work closely with data and growth teams to test and validate designs through A/B testing, gaining insights into user behavior and iterating on solutions accordingly.
    • Implement a test-and-learn approach to rapidly evaluate the effectiveness of design interventions on user activation and retention.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with product managers and engineers to scope design projects, establish timelines, and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality designs. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a keen attention to detail.

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • 8+ years of expertise applying human-centered design practices to digital or mobile product experiences across all development phases
  • Experience working with multiple agile teams, aligning design, product, and business roadmaps, and collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Experimental mindset, with practical knowledge of A/B testing and rapid iteration
  • Regular continuous discovery practices, talking to customers to discover problems and improve designs through a continuous feedback loop, incorporating user feedback and research into your design process
  • Ability to navigate complex design challenges, ensure consistent design language, and create user-centered solutions that drive business growth
  • Deep understanding of user needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape to craft engaging, intuitive, and user-friendly product experiences
  • Strong analytical skills to create data-backed solutions that balance user needs with business objectives
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate design rationale and strategic implications across various audiences
  • A growth-focused mindset centered on constant innovation, applying customer empathy to build accessible and inclusive user experiences
