As a Software Development Manager specializing in Platform Engineering, you have broad technical expertise in building and operating robust, scalable, and secure software platforms. You will be responsible for our next-gen tech platform that serves internal users, including data scientists, data analysts, and other engineers, to optimize their dev experience and accelerate their delivery of customer value. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end development of our next-gen tech platform, including a modern data platform, unified authentication, observability, and DevEx tooling.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data and backend engineers, fostering a team culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and accountability
  • Collaborate with architects to define system architecture and design, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, reliable, and secure platforms.
  • Implement and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and testing processes.
  • Work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of platform services into applications.
  • Contribute to the development of the overall technical strategy and provide strategic input to influence technology decisions.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in platform and data engineering, sharing knowledge and insights with the team and the broader organization.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in engineering, and 2+ years of experience leading high-performance data or platform engineering teams.
  • Broad knowledge of backend platforms and systems such as data lake, ETL/ELT pipelines, authN/authZ, observability, and infrastructure.
  • Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of system architecture and software design
  • Hands-on experience with building and operating cloud-native systems and services in production
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a passion for tackling complex engineering challenges.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to contribute to a shared vision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Python and modern data engineering technologies such as Pandas, Spark, Airflow, and Hudi.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS compute, serverless, database, storage, container, and security services
  • Experience building common observability using technologies such as CloudWatch/CloudTrail, Elastic, Grafana, and Prometheus.
  • Experience building tooling to support and enhance developer experience.
  • Experience with web or mobile app development using JavaScript/TypeScript, React/React Native, Node.js
  • Active participation in the engineering community.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Advanced degrees are preferred but not required. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
