Job Purpose
- To maximize Amgen's value propositions through first-class medical and scientific projects, services and expertise, with key scientific customers within a therapeutic area
- To develop and implement scientific programs in collaboration with external/internal customers
Key Activities
- Identifies, develops and maintains collaborative relationships with current and future scientific experts, cooperative study groups
- Develop strategy and tactical plan for engagement with the scientific community and oversee the effective and efficient functioning of individual MSLs and the MSL team.
- Discuss scientific value messages, clinical outcome and patient benefits with scientific experts and hospital pharmacists, collectively inform brand strategy with scientific insight.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the generation and communication of scientific and medical insights.
- Ensure society engagement by supporting international and local congresses.
- Lead and contribute to medical initiatives/projects with key stakeholders to enforce medical strategy.
- Develop and educate a high-performance MSL team.
- Establish strong career pathways through development planning for talent engagement and retention.
- Identify new research opportunities and deliver internal training on selected topics.
- Ensure work conducted is in line with compliance regulations.
Qualifications
- Work experience in Medical Science Liaison, Medical Affairs, Scientific Affairs, or Clinical Development in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Deep knowledge in responsible disease areas.
- Good communication/negotiation skills with scientific experts and internal stakeholders.
- Skilled in coaching to support colleagues' development.
- Team management through execution of plans with a clear credible vision.
- English proficiency in reading and listening, with business-level speaking skills.
- Advanced degree (e.g., PhD, Master's degree, MD) preferred or equivalent combination of relevant educational and professional training.
- Three years of experience in industry (pharmaceuticals, devices, medicals) or related scientific field in academia.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and change management.
- Experience in Medical Department or Clinical Development, clinical study management, and conduct.
- Medical/scientific research experience and scientific expertise in responsible disease areas.
- Project management and presentation skills, with good knowledge of clinical research, drug safety, legal compliance environment.
- Willingness to continuously expand medical, scientific, market, and industry knowledge with good business acumen.
