Due to internal progression, we’re excited to be recruiting a new National Mortar & Screed Technologist to join our Group Technical team!


As a key member of our technical team, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring compliance with testing requirements on-site while fostering a seamless connection between Marshalls Mortars and Screeds and our cutting-edge Marshalls Landscape Products testing facility. Your passion for innovation will shine as you proactively analyse performance and fine-tune our mix designs for maximum effectiveness and cost-efficiency.

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and you'll thrive in this role as you engage with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, providing invaluable support and expertise. Your ability to manage time effectively and foster positive relationships with various teams, including site operations, sales, procurement, and technical support networks, will be key to your success.

What is the mission of this Technologist role?
As the driving force behind our technical operations, you'll ensure seamless compliance and performance across multiple production sites.

Your expertise will shine as you collaborate with procurement teams and suppliers, forging strong relationships and driving innovation.

You'll build and maintain strong connections with regional production stakeholders and site operations managers, ensuring everyone is aligned and empowered to succeed. From weekly reports to real-time mix designs, you'll be the cornerstone that keeps our operations running smoothly, preventing downtime and fostering a culture of excellence.

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of product development, supporting the creation of new concepts and ensuring quality at every step. From technical audits to BSI certifications, you'll oversee every aspect of our operations, championing safety, health, environment, and quality concerns to senior management.

But it's not all about the status quo - you'll be a catalyst for change, continuously seeking solutions to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and streamline processes. With a keen eye for optimisation, you'll challenge the status quo and drive tangible results that propel us forward!

So, what are the mission-critical skills you’ll need?

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a technical supervisory role within a production environment.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Management Systems and Quality, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Knowledge of standards/testing requirements to which our products need to conform.
  • Knowledge and ability to make mix design adjustments to alter concrete properties or aid performance.
  • Excellent IT skills, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

For extra points:

  • Knowledge/use of root cause analysis tools and lean techniques would be an advantage.
  • HNC level or equivalent qualification in a Manufacturing, Engineering or Building discipline.
  • Qualification in Concrete Technology and Construction.
  • Qualification in Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
