The Network Engineer IIhas primary responsibility for the operation of the network and server environment including performing day-to-day server and network administration and maintenance. This position will also work with a team of IT professionals responsible for the maintenance, growth, and security of our production and supporting environments. The Network Engineer II is also responsible for troubleshooting network and security related problems while working closely with other network and systems engineers and other departments within the company to ensure that employee-facing environments are highly available and secure.

As a Network Engineer II you will:

  • Provide advanced network administration involving the design, configuration, and maintenance for a highly available network infrastructure.
  • Manage firewall ACLs, VPN access, User IDs, Groups, and other daily administration and security functions.
  • Monitor server system and network performance.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams.
  • Perform maintenance and upgrades of network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, virtualization platform, SAN, and servers.
  • Create and maintain documentation on existing systems and processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce company security policies within the network and server environment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network and server problems.
  • Assist in migration of new offices into corporate network infrastructure.
  • Serve as a key team member using existing technical knowledge and have the skills to perform specific projects independently.
  • Identify, recommend and implement specific tools that may deal with systems monitoring, management, and automated deployment.
  • Coordinate local and remote server connectivity and solve more advanced customer related problems as necessary.
  • Provide on-call technical support during non-business hours as required.
  • Determine priority of action based on severity of service disruptions and respond appropriately.
  • Coordinate projects to evolve the network and server infrastructure focused on improving the availability, security and performance for customers.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
  • Support implementation of disaster recovery processes and business continuity activities.

Network Engineer II Requirements for Success:

  • 5+ years' experience administering Windows Server OS including experience with Active Directory.
  • Strong understanding of core fundamentals around routing, switching, firewalls, communication protocols, internet/network security and authentication
  • Managed File Transfer application experience, preferred.
  • VMWare Systems experience, preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, preferred.
  • Ability to contribute to ad-hoc design & troubleshooting sessions to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to be available for on-call duties in a regular rotation
