Job Description

The HPC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project.

NI Engineering Lead

Aztec West, Bristol, Satellite Delivery Centre, Bridgwater – with flexibility of working from home, minimum of 3 days in office.

Are you at your best when driving high-profile topics, using humility to recognise your limitations and engaging others to achieve effective resolution? Are you energised by applying your curiosity to seek out and steer challenging issues? Do you thrive in an environment where you will need to bring clarity and strategic awareness to break through complexity and uncertainty? Above all, are you passionate about helping Britain achieve Net Zero?

Opportunity…

As the NI Engineering Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing the technical direction within the 'N3' Area of Hinkley Point C (HPC), particularly focusing on the emergency diesel generators, waste, and effluent treatment systems. Your responsibilities will include driving major technical initiatives and providing strategic leadership on complex, multidisciplinary issues. You'll collaborate closely with the Commissioning and Pre-operations teams, ensuring the project's future phases are on track for success and innovation.

In this role, you'll manage critical structures, systems, and components, including emergency power supplies and advanced waste and effluent treatment systems, across various disciplines such as civil, mechanical, I&C, electrical, and HVAC. Reporting to the N3 Area Engineering Manager, you'll lead the delivery of some of our most complex and impactful technical projects.

Pay, benefits and culture…

  • Alongside a salary between £62,000 - £72,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
  • We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
  • At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
  • Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
  • We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
  • We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing…

  • You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure project-wide alignment and address emerging risks, developing practical solutions to drive optimal decision-making. You’ll take the lead in managing risk strategies, balancing priorities to enhance visibility and informed decision-making across the project.
  • You'll also be responsible for fostering strong relationships with key teams, ensuring the timely delivery of technical reports, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Additionally, you’ll mentor and support colleagues across the business, helping to achieve broader team and individual goals.

Who you are…

  • Being an NI Engineering Lead at HPC means bringing a degree in Engineering, Science, or an equivalent field, with a commitment to pursuing chartership in your discipline. You'll have extensive experience in the nuclear industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of safety cases and regulatory frameworks.
  • You’ll showcase proficiency across various engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, layout, and safety case, with the ability to collaborate effectively with experts. Your role will require leading technical and commercial discussions, managing substantial budgets, and maintaining a solid technical focus.
  • We’re looking for someone who has been involved in the entire project lifecycle of complex EPC projects, including design, construction, commissioning, and ideally operations. You’ll prioritise delivery excellence, ensuring project success through a results-driven approach.
  • Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be navigating multi-level and multi-cultural environments within major projects and organisations. Proficiency in French would be an advantage.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
