Role: Operational Risk Analyst – Operational Risk (Change, Products & People)

Location: Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 (subject to change) – Currently working remotely.

This role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis.

About the Role:

The Risk Function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls, and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile. The Risk Function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.

The role is positioned within the Operational Risk team, where we perform Risk management for Operational Risk through the Operational Risk Framework and supporting policies, monitoring, and reporting.

The successful candidate will need to be pragmatic in working to support the 1LoD, while being strong in the defence of risk principles. They will play a role in setting the risk tone and culture across the group. As a member of the Operational Risk Change and Product teams, you will play a significant role in Policy setting, advice, and oversight and challenge across all areas for Operational Risk.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Review and monitor the implementation of the second line Policy in relation to Change and Products & Propositions.
  • Review and Challenge of Product & Propositions Approval and/or Withdrawal templates, Post Implementation reviews, PIRs and other Lifecycle reviews.
  • Ability to make timely and quality decisions on Change and Product Risk matters.
  • Ensure that the overall Risk and Group Operational Risk priorities are delivered in accordance with Risk Appetite.
  • Co-ordination and compilation of key internal Change control documents for fora reporting.
  • Maintain highly effective and influential relationships, to ensure that the Operational Risk environment and Risk Culture for the group is improving.
  • Provide relevant, consistent, and timely risk appropriate advice and support on Change and Product risk matters.
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of key business change portfolios and emerging trends/risks developing in the financial services industry. Through industry groups influence the development of regulatory requirements for operational risk in relation to Change.

  • Review and interpret Change/Product MI to identify trends and investigate exceptional items.
  • Support the development and delivery of regular reports on change, products, and broader Operational risk profiles to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to carry out 2LOD themed reviews of key areas across the Bank.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of AIB processes and organisational structure.
  • Support and embed a strong risk culture at all times throughout the organisation.

What you will bring:

  • Have a minimum of four years in a financial services environment, preferably in a control function, risk function or internal Audit. Relevant professional qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Have a proven experience in managing relationships with business stakeholders and/or regulators.
  • Have a proven understanding of Operational Risk Frameworks, Risk Appetite & experience of Risk Policies development along with an awareness and understanding of relevant regulatory operational risk requirements.
  • Have a proven experience interacting with and delivering on Business or Regulatory requirements.
  • Proven report writing capabilities and experience of analysing and interpreting data.
  • A good general business background with an understanding of Product Lifecyle Management and Product Risk. Change management experience and/or review and challenge of same is advantageous.
  • Dynamic self-starter with the ability to work independently demonstrating good organisational, communication and influencing skills.
