OVERVIEW
We are looking for Orma speakers with a linguistic degree to participate in a unique project aimed at preserving various language varieties by collecting audio data and transcribing it to train AI models for voice recognition. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact in the AI field, specifically in enhancing voice recognition capabilities.
As a linguist, your primary role will be to check and ensure the quality of audio recordings and transcriptions, among other tasks described below.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Conduct quality checks on audio recordings and their corresponding transcriptions-Learn and use our scorecard system to do quality checks-Adapt and localize guidelines as necessary-Maintain daily communication with Project Managers to monitor and ensure project progress-Assist in evaluating other candidates for fluency in Orma-Record audio and provide transcriptions as required
PROJECT DETAILS
We will provide a list of prompts/questions (e.g., "What is your favorite recipe?") for candidates to use when making audio recordings. Their task is to answer questions in Omar while recording their responses.

Requirements

  • Fully proficient inOrma and the most commonly spoken language in your region: Should be able to speak clearly and accurately.
  • Linguistic degree.
  • English Proficiency: Ability to understand instructions and communication emails written in English.
  • Must be able to understand and follow the instructions provided thoroughly.
  • Basic Technical Skills: Familiarity with recording equipment or software. Excel knowledge is a plus.
  • Reliable Equipment: Access to a microphone, can be a phone microphone.
  • Can work a minimum of 10-15 hours weekly.
