Summary
The Performance Improvement Team's Manufacturing Operation Systems Manager will travel to identified sites and work within a cross functional, problem-solving team to proactively implement performance improvements within the operations environment. This position interacts with facility management to identify areas of opportunity to improve production and quality standards in a safe manner while maintaining positive working relationships with the production team. They will be responsible for planning, developing, and directing management operating systems, policies, programs, and initiatives. The MOS Manager will provide insight and subject matter expertise in the evaluation of the safety, environmental, and quality management systems targeted at the production process and quality of resulting products to improve existing methods of operation.
This position is remote but requires travel to facilities and HQ as requested.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops MOS implementation plan for each site with identified team members.
- Supervises full lifecycle MOS implementation ensuring tactical cross-training and system understanding within team members and local site associates.
- Identifies key areas of opportunity and develops action plans within MOS implementation process to improve each item identified. These action plans must have identified measurable effects on people, product, planet, and profitability.
- Evaluates existing safety, environmental, quality, and operational efficiency management systems and implements identified solutions as part of the MOS project.
- Outlines MOS sustainment plan once project is completed at each site.
- Follows up with site leadership team to ensure execution is maintained and delivering expected results. If results are not as expected, this individual will lead an intervention process to modify implementation plan to address gaps.
Minimum Education and Experience
REQUIRED: BS degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline plus 6 – 8 years related work experience. Must be able to travel to other facilities and plants 50% of the time. Requires excellent planning, problem solving, analytical, oral, written, team building and negotiation skills. Strong technical competence with computer systems and Microsoft Office suite necessary. Must have knowledge of technical equipment related to fleet safety and security.
PREFERRED: Certifications preferences: APICS – CPIM or CIRM
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
1. Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine. 2. May need to move equipment occasionally. 3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 4. Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. .5. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
