Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Plant Layout Designer to design complex technical plants. You will create models, drawings, and schematics in 2D and 3D format using a variety of designing programs and tools. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders involved in the design process, study and perform calculations to determine feasibility of plans, modify existing designs to reflect required updates and changes, and ensure delivery of designs for manufacturability standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop 2D drawings and 3D model of equipment and piping systems for Kairos Power engineering projects
- Generate detailed general arrangement drawings of the plant and piping isometrics using computer-aided design software
- Collaborate with project leadership, management, and engineers to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery of products
- Collaborate with civil, structural, process, I&C, and piping engineering resources in the preparation of procurement, fabrication, construction packages including 3D models, 2D drawings, and reports (as necessary) for Plant Layout of Kairos Power KP-FHR technology
- Support preparation of reports such as line lists, valve schedules, and other extracts from 3D modeling software
- Identify potential problems and develop cost-effective solutions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design, or other related design discipline
- 5+ years of experience designing process plants, such as refineries, chemical, petrochemical facilities and/or clean tech industries. High temperature applications preferred.
- Understands codes, standards, and regulations such as such as ANSI, API, ASME 1 and B31.3 pertaining to Power equipment and facility design
- Production oriented and proficient using AVEVA, PDMS, or equivalent
- Has working knowledge of process, maintenance, and construction methods
- Proven ability to create and maintain cross-functional working relationships and communicating design concepts and information with technicians, engineers, and manufacturing personnel
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of deliverables prepared by engineering disciplines such as Process, Civil, Structural, Piping Material, Pipe Stress Analysis, Mechanical Equipment, Electrical, and Instrumentation
- Has working knowledge of process, maintenance, and construction methods
- Proven ability to create and maintain cross-functional working relationships and communicating design concepts and information with technicians, engineers, and manufacturing personnel
- Ability to function in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Proven team player with excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- Experience designing with high temperature molten salt or other high temperature fluid systems desired but not required
- Experience in the nuclear industry is desired but not required
