Role Responsibilities

As the policy analyst, you will be part of the team delivering the development and monitoring of the GoA's policy framework for the management of content. Policy scope includes Data, Information and Records Management.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Conducting research to identify trends to inform the development of policy instruments;
  • Conducting routine jurisdictional scanning of government and non-government content management practices;
  • Providing writing, designing, and editing support for the Data and Content Management Policy team;
  • Supporting the development of responses received from a variety of stakeholders both internal and external to Government; and
  • Developing, maintaining, and leveraging networks to help inform policy instrument development.

  • Strong critical thinking skills to help determine the impacts that a change in one area may have on related business practices and environments;
  • Self-directed research skills to explore professional literature for best practices and to find out how other jurisdictions are handling similar issues;
  • The ability to work effectively in a team setting and able to organize and contribute to project teams and committees to achieve work objectives;
  • An aptitude for problem solving and decision-making, as well as mature judgment, tact, and diplomacy.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A related two-year diploma (e.g., Library and Information Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration), supplemented by at least two (2) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team setting and/or on team projects.

Assets:

  • Extensive knowledge of content (data, information, records) management theory and practice, and information management technology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislation (Acts and Regulations), programs, policies, practices, and precedents governing content management, such as the Government Organization Act, Public Service Act, Government Accountability Act, Records Management Regulation, privacy legislation, etc.

Equivalencies are:

A related university degree and no related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or a minimum of four (4) years of related experience.

Notes

This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
