Job Description

Overview

GoodParty.org is looking for a passionate and analytical Politics Intern from now through mid-November. This is a remote, paid position with opportunities for part-time and full-time hours. You’ll work closely with our Political Director and Mobilization team. You’ll assist with nationwide candidate campaign and voter data research, politics team support, and product feedback. You’ll be involved in the day to day of an early stage startup and have multiple opportunities for mentorship and growth through interactions with senior leadership.

About GoodParty.org:

GoodParty.org is a tech platform and movement powering the mission to make people matter more than money in our democracy.

GoodParty.org is founded and fully-funded by serial entrepreneur, Farhad Mohit, with over $1B in exits — including Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate.

Why?

Americans – especially young people – are losing faith in democracy. The rigged, two party system has turned “Independent” into a dirty word. Voters are trapped between choosing the lesser of two evils or sitting out elections altogether.

A majority of eligible voters (over 130M Americans), including more than half of Millennials and Gen Z, say that neither Republicans, nor Democrats represent them. But they keep getting re-elected! Whether you’re concerned about the environment, healthcare costs, wars, inequality, or our individual freedoms, many great solutions are held back by the dark doom-loop of dysfunctional partisan politics.

While mainstream media and the two major parties focus on federal elections (e.g. Congress and President), GoodParty.org is building from the bottom up. With over 500,000 elected offices in the United States, 70% of which are uncontested, we are powering a grassroots revolution to take back our communities from career politicians by helping real people run and win local and state level campaigns all across the country.

How?

GoodParty.org’s solution is to make it simple to run, win and serve. We offer free AI powered tools to help real people run and win elections, independent of partisan support or big money. We train people to run for office and support candidates who take our pledge so they don’t have to sell out to the Democrats or Republicans, raise big money, or cow-tow to special interests. Our free AI Campaign Manager and team with 50+ years of campaign experience make running, winning and serving as an independent, people-powered anti-corruption candidate possible.

We’re also building a movement of bright, caring Americans who are ready to end this country's two-party political dysfunction. Our community’s collective power is being harnessed to elect the most promising independents around the country. By leveraging social media and creators, we’re making our mission to make people matter more than money mainstream.

What you’ll do:

  • Research to understand independent candidates running in 2024 across America on GoodParty.org’s tech platform, map out their viability, provide insights on their path to victory and election dynamics

  • Gathering and helping manage voter data for candidates on GoodParty.org’s platform

  • Support candidates using our tools and optimizing the product based on their feedback

  • Assist with ad-hoc research projects, analysis, and election results monitoring

  • As part of an early stage tech start-up, you’ll have the opportunity to wear many hats and get exposure to various disciplines (e.g. mobilization, marketing, product development)

Who we’re looking for:

  • You’re up for the audacious challenge of transforming our democracy for Good.

  • You have a basic understanding of politics in the U.S. You know it’s broken and that more Democrats and Republicans are not the answer.

  • You’re a current student, recent graduate, or early campaign professional with interest in political science, public policy, communication, media, marketing, or related field.

  • You’ve got the grit to push through and make the impossible possible. You thrive working at the startup speed that our mission demands.

  • You have experience gathering, analyzing, and making decisions based on data.

  • You’re a strong researcher and writer. You’ve written more papers than you care to remember.

  • You’re a creative problem solver who can keep many moving parts organized.

  • You can work independently and handle multiple work streams in a remote setting. You’re able to pivot and re-prioritize at a moment’s notice.

  • You’re willing to learn and desire mentorship.

  • You communicate directly, honestly, and are open to candid feedback.

  • You will work 15-20 hours a week as a student during the fall semester. We require live availability during the daytime (9 am - 5 pm EST) on some weekdays. If you are a recent graduate, we also have full-time internship opportunities available.

Bonus if:

  • You’ve worked on a political campaign before.

  • You’ve got experience with any CRM system (e.g. Hubspot, Nationbuilder).

Why you should work at GoodParty.org:

  • Join us in solving the biggest problem of our time – fixing our democracy – so all other problems can be solved

  • We’re a Public Benefit Corporation that prioritizes social impact over making money

  • Work where and how you like, on a fully remote team spread across the country

  • Join a passionate team with diverse political views focused on one mission

  • We’re fully funded for our mission. No stressing over whether the next round of funding will come through. Focus on making an impact. That’s what matters here.
