About the position

We have a full-time (or 2 part-time) staff positions available for a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner to work in one or more of hour outpatient clinics in New Jersey or remotely from their home office performing intakes, psychiatric diagnostic exams, outpatient psychotherapy services, behavioral therapy / parental training as well as ordering and monitoring patient lab results and providing psychopharmacological management.

Part-time options (minimum 16 hours per week) are also available. Clinicians who work with all age groups are preferred but adult specialists are needed. As described below, we have 5 clinical centers at NCBI serving patients across the life-span. The successful candidates will evaluate and treat patients and their families across one or more of these centers based on their area of expertise.

Primary duties include administering some or all of the following services:

  • Biopsychosocial histories
  • Structured psychiatric exams
  • Specialized psychological diagnostic measures in Autism, Schizophrenic and bipolar spectrum disorder, personality disorders, OCD, PTSD as well as specialized diagnostic interviews for parents/children presenting with mood disorder. In-house training is available in the administration and scoring of these measures.
  • Individual and/or group psychotherapy with children, adolescents or adults based on each clinicians experience with various age groups
  • Behavioral training for caregivers and patients
  • Social skills therapy
  • Psychopharmacological consultation and management for prescribing clinicians

You will be part of a clinical team providing the above outlined mental health services. Upon completion of a patient’s neurodiagnostic evaluation, many of our patients require psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy training for parents/caregivers and other mental health related treatments. The active phase of their treatments is typically 8-12 weeks. Generally patients are treated 2 x weekly during the first half of their treatment. Some patients do require maintenance treatments. Common disorders treated at NCBI include: ADHD, Autism, neuropsychiatric syndromes secondary to acquired and traumatic brain injuries mood disorders, somatoform disorders, OCD and Tourette’s syndrome, as well as psychotic and personality disorders.

You will also participate in diagnostic intake and exam as well as psychotherapy rounds with other mental health clinicians at NCBI. You will participate as a rater in one or more of our clinical research trials.

Qualifications

You must be NJ licensed or licensed in another state with the capability of becoming licensed in NJ within the next 3-4 months of your hire and have or be eligible for CMS credentialing. Applicants can apply if they have an APN, in psychiatry with training in psychotherapy. Candidates should have at least 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed mental health clinician providing psychiatric diagnostic and treatment related services.

Salary and Benefits

Competitive base salary with quarterly cash bonuses and other incentives and benefits as described within for full-time employees with some benefits also available for part-time employees. Salary is based on education/degree, years of clinical experience and interpersonal skills. A signing bonus is also being offered which is paid out at the end of the employees 3-month probationary / acclimation period.
