Description

We have a new opportunity to join the Research Integrity department at Emerald, within the wider Legal and Ethics function.

You'll join a dedicated Research Integrity team, focussed on ensuring Emerald publishes content to the highest ethical standards, acting swiftly where issues arise, to ensure the published record is corrected.

You will be working in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders, providing expert advice and guidance on research and publication ethics, working closely with internal teams to demonstrate continuous improvement of Research Integrity processes and policy.

Location: We perform at our best when we feel trusted and are able to choose an approach to working that suits us best, which is why we are a remote-first company. However, we also believe in face to face collaboration, and our UK colleagues meet once a month for team time and quarterly for company get togethers in our Leeds office, so we ask that you be within a commutable distance that you are comfortable with in order to attend the office on those occasions.

Day to day we’ll trust you to:

  • Manage a caseload of potential research integrity and publication ethics issues across the Emerald portfolio.
  • Support internal stakeholders and journal editorial teams in the investigation of cases.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the resolution of publication ethics cases.
  • Deliver training on publication ethics both internally and externally.
  • Actively use industry and Emerald guidelines to lead your work.
  • Support and advise our Peer Review Editor team on research integrity issues ahead of publication, and our production team on research integrity issues post-publication.
  • Support and advise our publishing teams on best practice editorial guidance and commissioning due diligence.

You’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience of the academic publishing industry with previous exposure to the peer review process and research integrity – including use of manuscript-submission systems (such as ScholarOne or Editorial Manager).
  • Experience having difficult conversations with stakeholders - alongside influencing and diplomacy skills.
  • Advanced organisational skills which allow you to prioritise quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • An interest in technology and process improvements.
  • A passion for research, its value, and the role that trust plays within the research ecosystem.
  • The ability to problem-solve and investigate whilst making data-driven decisions and taking a balanced approach to complex issues.
  • The drive to expand your knowledge base and keep up to date with industry developments.

What’s in it for you?

At Emerald, we value our people. Becoming a part of our team means you’ll join a trusting and flexible environment and we've been flexified so you can trust that we're a truly flexible workplace. All we ask is that you attend the office once a month to come together with work colleagues. You'll also have numerous opportunities to progress your career, as well as access to professional development and the opportunity to learn new skills.

You’ll receive a wide range of benefits, such as 38 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays, remote flexible working, a discretionary performance bonus, 6% pension contribution and various benefits aimed at supporting your wellbeing and work-life balance such as a working from home allowance. You can check out a full list of our benefits here.
