Job Description

Us

We are a microbiome science company pioneering innovations in probiotics and living medicines to impact human and planetary health. Founded to realize the potential of microbes, our platform enables the translation of breakthrough science across a portfolio that encompasses both indication-specific and preventive applications across gastrointestinal and digestive health, women’s health, skin and dermatological health, oral care, pediatrics, gut-brain function, metabolic function, and nutrition.

Our consumer innovations are commercialized under Seed® with a mission to bring much-needed precision, efficacy, education and perspective-shifting science communication to the global category of probiotics. And our environmental research is conducted under SeedLabs, which was founded to develop novel bacterial interventions to enhance biodiversity and restore ecosystems impacted by human activity. LUCA Biologics, our women’s health biotech company co-founded with Dr. Jacques Ravel, develops living medicines targeting the vaginal microbiome for urogenital and reproductive health.

Founded in Venice, CA with a global team across Europe, Australia, Asia and North America, Seed Health was co-founded by Ara Katz and Raja Dhir, alongside a scientific board comprised of leading scientists, researchers, and clinicians across the fields of microbiology, immunology, bioinformatics, dermatology, oral health, vaginal health, gastroenterology, mental health, pediatrics, and nutrition.

We’re a human brand serving humans who ask us about health, science, probiotics, acclimation and anything one can Google. Some are inquisitive and skeptical, others praise us for our knowledge and helpfulness. As a company obsessed with scientific integrity, the cultivation of community, and a deep commitment to education, you are a vital part of this. You are an integral steward of Seed, the communication of science and our values, and a keystone of our brand experience. You are the catalyst for word-of-mouth and the first impression for incoming customers and curious question-askers who are excited about what we do and how we do it. People you interact with will walk away saying ‘whoa, I have never had an experience that felt so unique, intelligent and thoughtful’.

This goes beyond a world-class customer experience—this is about human relationships grounded in trust, scientific accessibility, and believing in knowledge as agency. Every day, we deal with human health and all of the nuance, emotion, and crucial empathy that’s required of it. This is about how you guide someone’s health journey and experience through the lens of science, and how you translate and communicate in a way that’s simultaneously rigorous, accessible, and kind.

You are the face of our SciCare team and the first point of contact for our customers when they seek guidance for their detailed product, science, and health questions. You are excited to care for their end-to-end experience, even when that means scouring through pubmed to address the most nuanced of questions. You constantly ask how else you can serve with Seed’s ethos of citizen science, curiosity, and learning injected into every email you write or scientific translation you create. You have eight ideas about how to offer unexpected moments of inspiration when a customer first mentions they’re interested in the microbiome or inquires about probiotics for their dog; as well as how we can do that consistently and proactively.

You are deeply curious about biology, bacteria, nutrition, the microbiome and their role in human and ecological health. When someone hears about a new diet or detox, you’re the one they text for the facts. PubMed is in your Instagram feed, Nature Medicine is in your bookmarks bar, and you’re excited to finally bridge the n of 100 (what science knows) with the n of 1 (how a human feels). This means everything from resolving daily customer service inquiries to communicating science to the public—in response to questions we receive, but also finding ways to proactively offer information and education in new and unique ways that may deepen our community’s experience of Seed.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the first (and main) point of contact for the many scientific, product, and health related inquiries that our external ecosystem sends our way, crafting detailed responses while maintaining an approachable and empathetic tone.
  • Play an active role in defining and enforcing the signature SciCare experience by delivering galaxy-class customer service through product education and science communication.
  • Build relationships with our members through proactive outreach and follow-ups—providing exceptional support or igniting curiosity along the way.
  • Where necessary, spend time scouring Pubmed or Google Scholar—translating literature mindfully for customer responses while upholding the highest degree of scientific integrity.
  • Create new scientific macros and audit existing scientific macros in accordance with the latest in microbiome and probiotic research.
  • Become a product knowledge expert for our current and future products + category pipeline—acting as a hub of the science behind Seed.
  • Work closely with SeedCare and larger Member Experience team to provide exceptional customer service, and adapt to business/ operational changes as our function grows.
  • Participate in SciCare-based projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Who you are:

  • You have a degree in biological sciences, health sciences, or a relevant science field. Higher educational or professional degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience translating and communicating science, and ability to communicate sensitive information mindfully.
  • Prior experience in either customer service, health care, or a service-related field.
  • You have a fundamental drive to deliver best in class service, with a true passion for making science accessible to all humans.
  • A ruthless prioritizer with high emotional intelligence. You are deeply thorough and thoughtful.
  • Excellent written, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, proactive, patient, solutions-driven, quick on your feet, and not afraid to roll up your sleeves.
  • Ability to position the customer at the center of every discussion or decision.
  • Committed to education and deepening self-learning and understanding of Seed, our products, and the science and knowledge that empowers our health.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and nimble with direction as the company grows to operate at scale; ability to react quickly to new business decisions.

The annual pay range for this full-time position is $70k-$82k + equity + benefits across all US locations (this position is 100% remote-US). Our pay ranges are guided by discipline, level and experience required.
