Job Title: Senior Bookkeeper

About the Role:
A detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper is required to support a growing CPA practice serving monthly retainer clients. This role focuses on full-cycle bookkeeping, reconciliations, financial reporting, and maintaining clean accounting records within established firm procedures.
The Bookkeeper will primarily work in QuickBooks Online and support internal review workflows. This is a backend accounting role designed to free up senior staff time while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across multiple client accounts.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical bookkeeping skills, comfort working within structured processes, and the ability to manage multiple client files independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Bookkeeping & Transaction Management
Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple monthly retainer clients.
Record and categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
Maintain general ledger accuracy.
Clean up and organize historical bookkeeping records when needed.
Ensure books are up to date on a consistent monthly schedule.
Financial Reporting & Review Preparation
Generate financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Prepare supporting schedules for internal CPA review.
Ensure documentation is organized and audit-ready.
Identify discrepancies or unusual transactions and flag for review.
Software & Systems
Work primarily within QuickBooks Online.
Adapt to firm practice management tools (Slack, internal communication systems, workflow tracking platforms).
Learn and follow internal bookkeeping procedures and documentation standards.
Optional exposure to Xero (preferred but not required).
Quality & Accuracy Control
Maintain high attention to detail across multiple client files.
Follow standardized bookkeeping processes.
Communicate clearly with internal team members regarding questions or inconsistencies.
Meet internal deadlines during peak periods (e.g., tax season).
Qualifications & Ideal Traits:
Strong experience with QuickBooks Online (required).
Experience working with the U.S.-based accounting or CPA firms (preferred).
Comfortable handling multiple client accounts simultaneously.
Strong reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
Organized, systematic, and detail-focused.
Comfortable working full-time and exclusively with one firm.
Clear written English communication skills.
Able to follow structured internal review workflows.
