The Opportunity: Senior iOS Engineer (Canada - Remote)
Ground News is looking for a Senior iOS Engineer who will play a hands-on role in driving our mission to build an outstanding technology company. You will be working as part of a cross-functional team, driving our core features from start to finish. This role essentially owns the iOS product. You will get full visibility and say on design and UX, and also exposure to the downstream analytics and investor feedback. It's a broader role than a typical iOS developer at a startup.
What you’ll Do:
Design, write, maintain, and debug software for large and sophisticated mobile applications
Crafting experiments to build a better understanding how users interact with our apps
Partner with design, product, and backend teams to build end to end functionality
Employ automated testing to build features with a high degree of technical quality, taking responsibility for the components and features you develop
Uphold standards for quality by performing code reviews, fixing bugs, crafting tests, and profiling code
Monitor app stability and address crashes
Become proficient with our Swift code base
What you’ll Have:
5+ years of experience in building lightweight, fast-loading and high performing apps as an iOS engineer.
In-depth understanding of Swift and crafting UI
Experience with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services.
Experience creating native apps for iPhone and iPad screen sizes, Mac App, Safari Extension
Worked on a successful Consumer app
MapKit, Rich push notifications, Auto-layout
View animations/transitions, App extensions - today widget, share extension, intents, notifications
Siri shortcuts, Firebase
StoreKit, IAP
