Senior QA Test Automation Engineer (all genders)

    Justplay
    Full-time
    RemoteQuality AssuranceToday

    About this role

We are looking for a Senior QA Test Automation Engineer to start and scale our test automation efforts across our Unity-based mobile games for iOS and Android.

In this high-impact role, you will help to shape and drive the automation strategy, architect scalable and maintainable frameworks, and integrate automated testing into our CI/CD pipelines to protect release stability and accelerate delivery.

You will work closely with Games QA, Game Developers, and SDK/Engine teams to establish automation as a core pillar of our quality strategy.

While automation will be your primary focus, we value a pragmatic mindset. You should also be comfortable stepping into manual testing when needed to support releases or investigate complex issues.

    Job Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in QA automation, including senior-level ownership

    • Experience with backend/API automation testing (e.g., REST, Swagger/OpenAPI-based validation)

    • Strong hands-on experience with Unity and C#

    • TypeScript / JavaScript or Python (for tooling & CI scripts)

    • Experience testing mobile game applications on iOS and Android

    • Proven experience designing and scaling automation frameworks

    • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments

    • Strong debugging and analytical skills

    • Ability to balance strategic ownership with hands-on implementation

    • Willingness to contribute to manual testing when required

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills

    • Experience with AltTester (in-game UI & gameplay automation) and Maestro (mobile E2E/UI automation) or alternatives

    • You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Lead the automation strategy for Unity mobile games

    • Design and develop scalable automation frameworks and tooling

    • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to gate merges and protect the main branch

    • Build and maintain automated regression coverage for core gameplay flows, SDK integrations, and backend interactions

    • Establish automation standards and best practices

    • Collaborate closely with Game Developers to improve testability and quality-by-design

    • Support manual testing efforts when needed to ensure release quality

    Job Benefits

    • Work-Life Balance and Flexibility: Flexible working hours and options for digital nomads, occasional office visitors, or regular office-goers

    • Mental Health Support: Free personal coaching through our partner to support our team members to live fulfilled lives at home and at work

    • Training & Development: A competitive personal development budget of up to 2000€/year for training, conferences, workshops, etc.

    • Germany-Based Benefits: 25 vacation days, free Wellhub gold subscription, free monthly Deutschland-Ticket, and a monthly €50 tax-free internet contribution

    • State-of-the-Art Equipment: Doesn’t matter if you are a MacBook or Windows user; we will provide you with the technical gear you need to succeed

    • A Relocation Package: Includes visa support for those who need it

    • Engaging and Diverse Work Environment: Join a diverse team, with over 30 nationalities working from over 25 different locations

    • Munich Office Perks: Ergonomic setup, free lunch on a daily basis, and dog-friendly environment

Benefits may vary depending on location and contract type. Do not hesitate to ask us about more details on our benefits offer.
