    About this role

    The Opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, we're helping to build the infrastructure that will power the UK's energy future.

As a Site Manager within our Grid & Power Quality Solutions business, you'll take ownership of the safe and successful delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects across the UK. Working on projects that support renewable energy integration, grid stability, data centres, e-mobility and the wider energy transition, you will lead site activities from mobilisation through construction, commissioning and final handover.

This is an opportunity to work on high-profile projects that have a direct impact on the UK's evolving energy network. You'll act as Hitachi Energy's senior representative on site, coordinating contractors, managing stakeholders and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule and to the highest quality standards.

We're looking for a strong construction leader who thrives in fast-paced project environments, enjoys solving challenges and can build trusted relationships with customers, contractors and project teams.

    How You'll Make an Impact

    • Lead all site-based activities throughout the construction, installation, testing and commissioning phases of major energy infrastructure projects.

    • Plan and coordinate site delivery activities in collaboration with Project Managers and Senior Construction Leadership, ensuring the right resources, equipment and milestones are in place.

    • Take full responsibility for the assigned site from handover through to final completion and return to the customer.

    • Act as Hitachi Energy's primary site representative, building strong relationships with customers, contractors and key stakeholders.

    • Ensure all construction activities are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, project specifications, quality standards and project schedules.

    • Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure safe working practices, high-quality workmanship and successful project delivery.

    • Drive a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all site activities.

    • Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are in place, reviewed and implemented for all work packages.

    • Ensure all site personnel are appropriately trained and actively promote Health, Safety and Environmental best practices.

    • Monitor project site costs, resource requirements and productivity, tracking actual spend against forecasts and supporting accurate cost reporting.

    • Oversee receipt, storage and installation of equipment and materials to protect project assets and minimise risk.

    • Ensure construction documentation, drawings and site records are accurately maintained, updated and controlled.

    • Provide regular updates to project leadership regarding progress, safety, quality, risks and commercial performance.

    • Support testing, commissioning and project handover activities to ensure successful project completion.

    Your Background

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

    • 5+ years of experience as a Site Manager, Construction Manager, Installation Manager, or similar leadership role within construction, energy, utilities, industrial or infrastructure projects.

    • Strong understanding of construction, installation, testing and commissioning activities.

    • Good knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation and industry best practices.

    • Proven ability to lead site teams, manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple project stakeholders.

    • Experience managing project schedules, site resources, quality requirements and construction risks.

    • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

    • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to perform in dynamic project environments.

    • Willingness to travel extensively and work across project sites throughout the United Kingdom.

    Preferred

    • Experience within power transmission, substations, Grid & Power Quality projects, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centres or major infrastructure projects.

    • SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.

    • Knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities.

    • Experience supporting testing, energisation and commissioning activities.

    Why Join Hitachi Energy?

At Hitachi Energy, you'll have the opportunity to work on some of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure projects, helping to shape a more sustainable, resilient and connected energy network. As part of a global technology leader, you'll collaborate with highly experienced professionals and contribute to projects that support renewable energy integration, grid stability, data centres and the wider energy transition.

We're committed to creating an environment where our people can grow and succeed. In return for your expertise, we offer a competitive salary, annual bonus, excellent pension scheme, 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, development and long-term career ambitions.
