Valkyrie Aero is seeking a software engineer to develop software for an airborne mission system. Software Engineers in this role develop the software that runs on embedded Linux hardware and integrates sensors, payloads, and the operator interface. This includes device interfaces, control software, real-time data handling, and supporting backend services. This is a fully remote position.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Develop and maintain software on embedded Linux systems, including operating system configuration, device drivers, deployment, and updates
Implement interfaces to sensors, payloads, and aircraft systems over serial, Ethernet, and video links
Implement control software for sensors and payloads
Develop real-time data handling, including time synchronization, logging, and transport of data between devices and the operator interface
Develop backend services and APIs as required
Support integration and test, including diagnosing and resolving issues on target hardware
Work with hardware engineers on compute, power, and interface selection
Professional experience developing embedded or systems software on Linux
Experience with both embedded software and backend services
Proficiency in C++ and Python
Experience interfacing software with hardware, including reading schematics, datasheets, and interface control documents
Experience with real-time data handling and debugging of combined hardware/software systems
Experience delivering software to a fielded system
Must be a U.S. citizen
Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded compute platforms
Experience with motion control, servo loops, or state estimation
Experience with serial and video interfaces and aircraft data buses
Experience with gRPC or WebSockets
Experience with embedded Linux build systems (Yocto, Buildroot) and over-the-air update systems
Experience in defense, aerospace, robotics, or other safety-critical software development
Personal robotics or hardware projects
