Position OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our virtual teaching team with Texas Virtual Schools (TXVS), a program of Stellar Virtual. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be crucial in providing exceptional educational support to students with diverse learning needs. This position is remote and based in Texas, offering flexibility and the opportunity to impact students' lives from the comfort of your home.
This position is for the current school year, 2024-2025. Future hiring efforts for 2025-2026 will be posted separately when those roles are available.
Essential Responsibilities- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Adapt instructional materials and resources to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
- Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a virtual setting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support student progress and achievement.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring to evaluate student performance and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and attendance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and encouraged to succeed.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities in a virtual or traditional classroom setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Technologically proficient, with experience using virtual learning platforms and instructional technology tools.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field is required.
- A Master’s degree preferred.
- Texas teaching certification in Special Education is required.
