    About this role

    Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Data Management and Analytics Support Specialist to support the VHA Specialty Care Program Office in delivering data-driven programmatic insights across the Veterans Health Administration. In this role, you will work within an exceptional team within a federal contracting environment to extract, analyze, and interpret complex healthcare data from a wide range of VHA systems and files to inform strategic decision-making and operational improvements. Your vital work will directly contribute to the quality of care and administrative efficiency delivered to our nation's Veterans. The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented data professional with deep experience with VHA enterprise systems who thrives in a fast-paced federal healthcare environment and communicates complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A self-starter comfortable working independently while also collaborating across multidisciplinary teams within a complex program office and agency environment will excel in this position.

    Primary Responsibilities

Access, query, and extract data from VHA enterprise systems and files including CDW, VistA, VSSC, RAMP, PTF (MedSAS), MCA System, PCMM, NPCD, and the VETSNET Corporate Mini Master File to support programmatic reporting and analysis. Develop and apply advanced computerized models and algorithms to identify, extrapolate, and validate data patterns that support Specialty Care Program Office decision-making and future business trend forecasting. Design and produce clear, accurate data visualizations including graphs, charts, dashboards, and summary reports that translate complex mathematical and statistical information into accessible formats for program managers and leadership. Present analytical findings and data-driven recommendations to program managers and senior stakeholders, advising on how to best adjust business models and operational strategies to achieve favorable programmatic outcomes. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across multiple VHA data sources by performing routine data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance reviews in support of ongoing and ad hoc reporting requirements. Collaborate with VHA Specialty Care Program Office staff and other stakeholders to define data requirements, document analytical methodologies, and maintain standardized reporting processes in accordance with federal data governance and contracting standards.

    Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in data management, data analytics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise supporting healthcare or federal government programs, preferably within VA. Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related discipline is required. Master's Degree preferred. In-depth, hands-on knowledge of VHA enterprise systems and files including CDW, VistA, VSSC, RAMP, PTF (MedSAS), MCA System, PCMM, NPCD, and the VETSNET Corporate Mini Master File is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential and comply with all VA information security, privacy, and system access requirements, including completion of required VA cybersecurity training. Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident authorized to work in the United States; ability to pass a federal background investigation is required. Demonstrated proficiency in developing advanced data models, applying statistical algorithms, and presenting data-driven business insights to non-technical audiences in a clear and actionable format.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Prior experience supporting a VHA Program Office, VISN, or VA Medical Center in an analytical or reporting capacity.

    • Proficiency with SQL, SAS, Python, R, or comparable data query and statistical tools used within the VA data ecosystem.

    • Familiarity with VA/VHA data governance frameworks, privacy regulations (HIPAA, VA Handbook 6500), and federal records management requirements.

    • Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or the VHA VSSC reporting environment for dashboard development and executive-level reporting.

    • Knowledge of VHA Specialty Care service lines, clinical program structures, or healthcare operations that informs contextual interpretation of VHA data outputs.
