What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Provide in-depth technical web application programming expertise that meets technical specifications and business requirements
- Research business problems and propose software solutions; mentor junior programmers in the department
- Provide estimates and create functional and detailed design specifications for programs to be developed; convert system designs and technical specifications into program code for complex applications
- Develop, test and maintain complex application software; comply with project standards and processes related to producing quality software products and documentation; provide project management for moderately sized, complex efforts
- Apply software releases to production in a controlled, methodical manner and verify systems are stable after patching
- Participate as a high-level technical expert in design development, coding, testing and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software for third-party customers; work with technical staff to understand problems with software and develop specifications to resolve them
- Responsible for ELK (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana) Admin/Development tasks, health checks
- Responsible for ELK upgrade and X-PACK POC
- Responsible for Java Upgrade across landscape
- Developing Ansible playbooks/scripts for landscape-wide cluster configurations for efficient deployment of configuration changes, collecting statistics, etc.
- Responsible for Elasticsearch Curator configuration/management
- Responsible for weekly backups of ES wmx/omx indices
- Responsible for Elasticsearch mappings, migration, reindexing, etc.
- Standing entire middleware components JDBC Connect, Kafka Cluster, Zookeeper, Spark Cluster, Build Scala Streaming Application, Elasticsearch, Kibana and Logstash and production-ready deployment (1-2 days)
- Taking primer/technology sessions for knowledge sharing amongst team members
- Setup of POC’s of various Kafka/Kubernetes packages completed for deploying JDBC-Connect, Listeners, Kafka Cluster, Zookeeper, Spark Drivers/Application on Kubernetes. Provided various options for the Architect/Management team for review.
- Up to date on documentation on POCs, Standing environments, Ansible scripts, Upgrade, RBAC security
- Will mentor junior engineers in programming/technology sessions
- Will aide in administering/managing/debugging/fixing Middleware components and documentation
- Will aide in improving processes, add automation to areas where necessary
- Will aide in adding better monitoring tools for ELK/Middleware components
- Root CA security certificate setup
What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 2 years of related work experience
- Knowledge of Windows, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, .NET, Oracle, SQL Server, Visual Studio, C# and ASPX
- Availability to work periodic 24x7 on-call support as required by team’s scheduled rotation
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3 years of experience in architecting and developing large, scalable, distributed or web-based applications
- An understanding of component-based software, object-oriented methods, internet technologies, client/services architectures, relational databases, structured development, test methodologies and data warehousing
- Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment
