Job Description:
The Role
This high-visibility role is part of the SiFive Customer Experience (CX) organization. As a Staff to Sr. Staff Field Application Engineer, you will own and drive the pre-sales technical engagement with current and prospective customers around their CPU, SoC Architecture, Security, and Software/Firmware requirements. You will need to formulate and clearly articulate a solution based on SiFive’s portfolio that can bring a differentiated value proposition to the customer’s needs. You will work closely with the Sales team to help meet sales targets. You will also act as the customer’s voice within the company, to enable delivery of market-focused solutions for our customers.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in CPU microarchitecture, firmware development, and SoC implementation. Prior experience in a customer-facing support/pre-sales role would be an added advantage.
Responsibilities
Independently own, manage, and drive customer engagements - including evaluations, product demos, run customer benchmarks, PPA analysis, FPGA bringup, and more.
Work hand-in-hand with the sales team and take technical ownership of the sales process.
Independently and proactively seek out answers and devise solutions with ingenuity.
Understand and interpret customers’ technical requirements & propose solutions to help build best-in-class RISC-V SoCs.
Be the voice of the customer internally with an ability to clearly articulate detailed technical requirements to various internal stakeholders.
Support Marketing activities as needed, in the form of webinars, blog posts, writing application notes, supporting trade-shows, etc.
Requirements
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 8+ years of proven industry experience.
In-depth, working knowledge of CPU architecture and SoC architecture.
Hands-on expertise with either HW development (RTL/implementation flows, verification/validation, backend flows, FPGA flows) or SW development (C/assembly, OS/RTOS, IDEs, Compiler/Debuggers) is a strong plus.
Experience with CPU IP based on ARM, MIPS or RISC-V is a plus.
Experience with automotive safety/FuSA development/deployment methodologies is a plus.
Track record of successful customer engagements.
Self starter, able to work independently, and able to take ownership & initiative in driving technology/product interactions with the customer.
Willing to travel & be in front of customers 25% of the time.
