We are looking for inventive, passionate Android experts who embrace challenges, and thrive when given autonomy to figure out solutions. As a Staff Software Engineer, Android, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining our Android applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, user-friendly mobile experiences. Your expertise will drive the technical direction of our Android projects, ensuring robust and scalable solutions. What you'll do:

  • Drive the overall technical design of our Android applications..
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and share best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in Android development.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and workflows.
  • Learn from and help shape our company's engineering culture.

What will set you up for success:

  • 8+ years of experience in Android development.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
  • Deep understanding of Android SDK, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs, third-party libraries, and integrating with backend services.
  • Passion about building delightful and high-quality mobile UI experience to our end users.
  • Broad experience in overall system design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles and design patterns.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with modern Android development tools and libraries (e.g., Jetpack, Dagger, RxJava, Retrofit).
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles and design patterns specific to Android
  • Familiarity with cross platform frameworks such as Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile
  • Contribution to open-source projects or a strong personal portfolio of Android applications.
  • Deep understanding of Android architecture including Instant Apps, Deeplinks, Security, Device Management, App to App communication
  • Knowledge of Push Notifications architecture and constraints, including familiarity with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming, multithreading, networking, and memory management.
  • Excellent debugging skills.
  • Ability to drive the design and implementation of major components of our applications, systems, and features, working across our entire engineering, product and design organization, where necessary to solve problems.

Estimated Cash Compensation for this role: $200k-$250k DOE plus equity
