About the Opportunity
High-Light Electric, Inc., part of Mendoza Companies, is seeking a detail-oriented Independent Contractor to provide Digital Takeoff Services supporting our Electrical Estimating team.
This is a fully remote independent contractor engagement for professionals located in Latin America who have experience performing digital quantity takeoffs for construction projects.
The contractor will support the estimating process by converting construction drawings and specifications into organized, coded quantity data used by our estimating team.
This engagement is structured around project-based deliverables rather than employment, offering flexibility while supporting a growing estimating operation.
What You'll Do
As part of each assigned project, you will:
Perform complete digital quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and Company-provided coded tools.
Apply the appropriate work/cost codes to all quantified items.
Prepare takeoff files in a format that can be imported into the Company's estimating spreadsheets.
Identify plan conflicts, specification discrepancies, missing information, and scope questions for estimator review.
Prepare concise takeoff summary reports documenting assumptions and observations.
Participate in estimating discussions to answer questions regarding completed takeoffs.
Continuously study Company standards, plans, specifications, and public works documentation to improve deliverable quality.
Contribute recommendations that help improve estimating tools, coding standards, and takeoff methodologies.

How This Engagement Works
Project assignments are reviewed and coordinated during recurring planning meetings.
For each project package:
The estimated number of hours is agreed upon before work begins.
Deliverables are reviewed upon completion.
Approved work is invoiced according to the agreed engagement.
Additional work resulting from project addenda is managed separately.
There is no guaranteed minimum volume of work, as each assignment is an individual project engagement.
Independent Contractor Requirements
To be considered for this engagement, contractors must:
Operate as an independent contractor.
Provide their own computer.
Provide their own reliable internet connection.
Provide their own software licenses except for Company-provided coded tools and materials.
Be responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits.
Be able to provide services remotely from Latin America.

Contractors are engaged on a project-by-project basis, maintain control over the means and methods used to perform the services, and are responsible for providing their own equipment, internet connection, taxes, insurance, and any other business expenses consistent with their independent contractor status.
Salary: $11 to $14 per hour
