United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Teacher/Home Base to join our team. As Teacher/Home Base you will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. In collaboration with the Demonstration School director and with the Master teacher design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to the guidelines and key elements established by UWM for the Home-Based program and the Head Start Performance Standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits to young children and their families.
- Carry out “curriculum” for child development in the context of the home and during group “socialization” experiences.
- Develops and implements strategies during the group “socialization” experiences and other family group activities.
- Provide education and support services to families.
- Conduct screening and ongoing assessment of young children’s development promptly following the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Collaborative process in family partnership agreements.
- Promote parental involvement in curriculum planning, program governance, and overall Head Start program.
- Monitor and educate parents concerning children’s health status, including medical follow-up, physical health, dental health, mental health, and nutritional intake.
- Provide management, crisis intervention, and resource referral services.
- Act as liaison and advocate between community resources and Head Start families.
- Transport family when appropriate to and from community resources or other activities.
- Complete documentation of home visits, socialization experience, and other relevant activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.
- Participate fully in supervision and training experiences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education Requirements: A minimum of a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in child development, elementary education, social sciences, or related field. Bilingual preferred
Experience Requirements: At least 2 years of experience working with children and families in a human service setting
Technology Requirements: Beginning Internet Explorer, Intermediate Word, Beginning Excel, Beginning Outlook.
Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, customer relations skills, creative problem-solving skills, good judgment, basic math skills, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail. Bilingual and Biliterate preferred.
