You will be an important team member reporting into Zscaler Technical Publications. You will work with technical writers, multimedia producers, and other technical editors to help review and refine technical documentation, help videos, and other customer-facing communications. You will also engage with Product Management, Cloud Operations, and other technical teams to create effective communications for our customers.
To do this you will build strong working relationships with various product development areas within the company. You must have a hands-on approach to the technology and to the products being documented. You will help enhance and expand the current documentation to provide a variety of learning tools for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Effectively collaborate with technical writers and multimedia producers to translate technical information into clear, concise, and effective documentation and media for technical audiences.
- Edit post-sales online technical documentation (i.e., help articles, release notes, etc.) as well as UI text (i.e., UI tooltips, labels, error messages, etc.) for use by our UX and Engineering teams.
- Apply editing best practices for translated technical documentation.
- Work cross-functionally with SMEs in the Cloud Operations, Support, and Product Management teams.
- Assist in defining the standards, style, and terminology used within our corporate style guide.
What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- 3+ years of experience in technical editing or technical writing.
- Bachelor's degree in technical writing, communications, or a related field (i.e., technical writing/communications certifications are also acceptable).
- Hands-on experience with JIRA and/or Confluence.
- Excellent oral, written, analytic, and organizational skills.
- Able to think and edit in context, while keeping the target audience in mind.
- Due to the nature of the work US citizenship is a requirement.
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in content editing, developmental editing, and copyediting for online documentation, help video scripts, and customer-facing communications.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience in network and/or cloud security is a plus.
- Experience with web-based or mobile products.
- Hands-on experience with HTML5/CSS.
Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
