Overview

Cotiviti is looking for a Data and Insights Analyst Intern to help transform the US healthcare system by building leading-class data and analytic solutions that unlock insights to delivering more value for Cotiviti customers and the broader healthcare system. This is an exciting opportunity for a student to dive deep into the US healthcare system and apply analytics to help solve healthcare’s greatest challenges: reducing waste/inefficiencies and improving quality, value, and access to care. The summer 2024 internship program is a remote first opportunity and will span 10-12 weeks beginning late May/early June. The candidate should have a strong interest in the healthcare system, great teaming abilities, and a background and passion for data/analytics. The Data and Insights Analyst Intern will develop analytics and dashboards that leverage data from Cotiviti’s product portfolio, and where appropriate, external data, to generate actionable insights that drive growth, client retention/satisfaction, and operational efficiencies. S/he will collaborate with analytic team members and business partners across Sales/Account Management, Product/Marketing, Operations, Research & Development, and Finance to translate “voice of the customer” into data products that deliver actionable insights and business intelligence to drive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering: Assist in the extraction and preparation of large, complex datasets to use for reporting and analytics
  • Dashboard Development: Develop interactive reports and dashboards using Business Intelligence tools like Tableau
  • Descriptive Analytics: Conduct high-level and detailed analyses on large healthcare datasets to deliver actionable insights to clients and business partners
  • Predictive Analytics: Develop predictive models using machine learning algorithms to inform decision-making and solve business problems (where applicable)
  • Solution Architecture: Develop data workflows, data artifacts, and other information assets to drive innovation, automation, and scale into data product portfolio
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal customers to understand business problems, translate to analytic requirements, iterate on design, and communicate progress
  • Team Engagement: Contribute project status updates, feedback, and ideas to team meetings and form strong working relationships with colleagues
  • Research: Conduct research on new data products, analytic tools, and other technical capabilities to inform data product and solution architecture roadmaps
  • Communications: Clearly communicate project workplan, analytic approach, milestones, and issues/risks; Develop a comprehensive write-up and deliver final presentation to leadership on internship project

Qualifications

  • >75% progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree in data/analytics, life sciences, healthcare, computer science, engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative field; enrollment in a Master’s Degree program preferred
  • Strong Interest in data analytics and/or healthcare based on academic course study
  • Foundational ability (or interest) to query/analyze large structured and unstructured datasets using tools like SQL, Python, Pig, Spark, R, or SAS
  • Experience generating visual insights using Business Intelligence Tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, or Excel
  • Experience distilling complex data and analyses into consumable formats
  • Experience developing predictive models using machine learning algorithms or other statistical techniques preferred
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications to deliver reports/analyses, presentations, and clear communications
  • Superior problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership capabilities
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and organized mindset

Base compensation ranges from $20/hr to $25/hr. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs. This role is based remotely, and all interviews will be conducted virtually.
