Position Summary:

The Vice President, Project and Alliance Management will oversee all client project management (PM) and alliance management (AM) activities for Translational Sciences. They will lead a talented team of PM and AM professionals in deliver of a range of specialty lab and central lab services across our network of 7 sites (Frederick MD, Houston TX, Redwood City CA, Winston-Salem NC, Norton MA, Berlin DE, and Royston UK). This role will report directly to the President of Translational Sciences and serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Proactive identification, design, implementation and continual improvement of project and portfolio management systems and information sharing, including planning, scheduling and cost management across the portfolio of clients and projects
  • Departmental operations, including responsibility for budget and resourcing models
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across sites, units and functions to develop high performing teams, enhance decision making, and build an open and trusting team environment
  • Set clear performance standards and hold self and organization accountable for achieving results
  • Ensure effective collaboration among teams to optimize pipeline execution and cost management
  • Enable and drive project strategy development and ensure execution of all cross-functional project activities
  • Identify activities on the critical path and work with various individuals to identify key issues and identify means to resolve all while ensuring continuous consistency with project strategy
  • Manage formal or ad hoc internal processes regarding project decision points, anticipate challenges and strive for the alignment of team members and project goals
  • Serve as neutral facilitator, communicate openly and timely, horizontally and vertically in order to achieve transparency of project progress and lead to resolve conflicts in good faith
  • Apply knowledge of the industry and the competitive environment
  • Assist in development of project control and QA procedures as well as enforce company policies, safety and quality standards
  • Provide direction to team members to complete assigned projects within allotted timelines and budgets

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
  • Deep experience managing and leading projects/programs at a pre-clinical and clinical stage within the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • CRO / client service delivery experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate across a geographically dispersed and highly matrixed organization

Other Required:

  • Broad understanding of the drug development process and complexities therein
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously as well as effectively manage scope, time and cost of assigned projects
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in the planning and execution of strategies for project management, with a very hands-on approach
  • Results oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Effective at conveying a vision, energizing others, establishing goals, delegating when appropriate, mentoring and coaching
  • Advocate for best practices/change agent – successful in working with other functions/ divisions to create excellence in project management and drug development
  • Well-developed and effective team facilitation and leadership skills
  • Ability to bring forward creative ideas and contributes to setting strategic plans for assigned projects and department
  • Outstanding communication and influence skills, with the ability to inspire confidence
  • Team player who leads by example, employs expertise and influence to encourage collaboration across departments, levels, and groups to achieve shared objectives
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • High integrity, maturity, strength of character and professionalism
  • Strong preference to be
  • Ability to travel domestic and international approximately 25%-35% of the time

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s with a concentration in a scientific-related discipline and/or advance degree strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant experience preferred, or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience and/or training

Location/Travel:

  • It is preferred for the role to be based at one of our 7 lab locations
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) approximately 25%-35% of the time on average

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.Reasonable estimate of the current range$190,000—$265,000 USD
