Browsers are unique in that they are one of the only pieces of software that you share with your parents as well as your kids. Which makes sense, they're our doorway to the most important things — through them we socialize with loved ones, work on our passion projects, and explore our curiosities. But on their own, they don’t actually do a whole lot, they’re kind of just there. They don’t help us organize our messy lives or make it easier to compose our ideas. We believe that the browser could do so much more — it can empower and support the amazing things we do on the internet. That’s why we’re building one: a browser that can help us grow, create, and stay curious.

About the Role
Our ambition at The Browser Company is for our media products to be as beloved as our software products. As we grow our video presence, we are seeking a video editor to join our team as a contractor, with full-time opportunities down the line.
Video is core to how we show up in the world — whether for feature launches, company announcements, TikToks, or behind the scenes experiments. Our YouTube channel has a community of 70,000+ (very!) engaged subscribers and our videos regularly get hundreds of thousands of views.
As a video editor working with the Storytelling team, you will own video projects from ideation to final cut, and play a critical role in how our company speaks to our members, our industry, and reaches new markets.
Responsibilities
Concept Ideation: Generate ideas for both one-off videos and new video series based on company needs, priorities, and platform requirements.
Video Planning & Coordination: Coordinate with the wider Browser Company team for whatever a video needs — whether its background research, footage recordings, copy and design assistance, etc.
Video Editing: Own the editing a video from start-to-finish, implementing b-roll, music, and graphics as necessary.
Crafting Arc's unique voice: Maintain the company’s distinct tone and style across all video and find opportunities to push this style forward in new ways.
Qualifications
3-5 years of video editing experience.
Distinct taste and strong opinions on what makes a video good.
A deep understanding of how to adapt ideas, styles, and approaches to different platforms (eg. TikTok vs YouTube).
A high-level of comfort with running remote recordings for videos when necessary (eg. interviewing our CEO for a video)
Ability work quickly & independently in a fast-paced environment with evolving constraints.
Ability to share a portfolio containing past work.
And maybe most importantly, excitement to push stylistic boundaries and subvert conventional approaches!
Bonus if you made a video that’s spread organically online to over 10K views (on any platform) and love Arc.
Compensation
This is a part to full-time independent contractor (1099) position. Compensation for this role is $100-$140/hr dependent on experience.
