Media & Journalism
Sentient is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization founded in 2018 that is solely focused on factory farms and their effects on climate, animals, workers, clean water, public health, and rural communities. The organization produces fact-checked, science-driven content serving readers, especially those in frontline rural communities interested in the impacts of industrial agriculture. Sentient operates the Food and Farming Journalism Network (FFJN), a network of over 350 freelance and staff journalists across 48 countries covering factory farming, agriculture, climate, labor, and food systems. The network provides expert trainings, reporting resources, fact-checking support, and networking opportunities to help journalists deepen their coverage of industrial animal agriculture. With new grant funding, Sentient is launching the Food and Farming Storytelling Fund, a two-year pilot program designed to support independent journalists and creators telling stories on factory farming.
