Iowa's economy is built on some of the most productive agricultural land on earth. The Iowa corn belt — stretching across the state's rolling moraines left by retreating glaciers — produces enormous yields of corn and soybeans that feed both domestic livestock and export markets around the world. John Deere, though headquartered in nearby Moline, Illinois, has deep Iowa roots and operates major manufacturing and parts distribution facilities throughout the state. Deere's presence — alongside CNH Industrial, AGCO, and a web of smaller agricultural equipment manufacturers — makes Iowa a center of the global farm machinery industry.
