Beyond the federal government, Maryland has a strong healthcare and bioscience sector. Johns Hopkins Medicine and the University of Maryland Medical System are massive employers and anchor research institutions. The University of Maryland, College Park, and Johns Hopkins University generate significant research output and talent pipelines.
