Country music has always been the foundation — the Grand Ole Opry, established in 1927, made Nashville the center of American country music, and the Music Row corridor of studios, publishers, and labels has sustained a music industry of global significance. But Nashville's economy broadened dramatically in the 1990s and 2000s. Healthcare became the dominant sector: HCA Healthcare (Hospital Corporation of America), the largest for-profit hospital company in the country, is headquartered in Nashville. Memphis, Tennessee's largest city by population, is a global logistics powerhouse. The Memphis hub — where FedEx processes millions of packages every night — is one of the busiest air cargo facilities on earth.
