Telehealth Substance Use Disorder Counselor – Remote
Affect Therapeutics is the first evidence-based digital recovery program for stimulant use, blending mobile technology, behavioral support, and medical care to help our Members on their recovery journey. We support Members virtually, meeting them where they are to empower them to overcome addiction.
We are looking for empathetic, passionate Telehealth Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors who want to change the way the world treats stimulant, alcohol and cannabis addiction. You'll work directly with Members through virtual one-on-one and group sessions, supporting their progress and working collaboratively with our Member Services team.
This is a fully remote position, with the possibility of exploring a four-day, 10-hour workweek.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake assessments to evaluate Member readiness for the program.
- Lead group therapy and one-on-one sessions, supporting recovery and using our curriculum.
- Provide crisis intervention and referrals as needed.
- Maintain thorough documentation using our EMR system.
- Collaborate with clinical supervisors on treatment and discharge plans.
- Ensure all actions comply with HIPAA and state regulations.
Requirements:
- Must hold a verifiable counseling license in the state where you practice.
- Must be available at our office during designated hours on the last Thursday of every month. This is required for compliance purposes, as state inspectors may arrive unannounced during these hours. Once the inspection is completed, they will not return for another year.
- 2+ years of experience in SUD counseling.
- Comfort with Google Suite technology, EMRs, and telehealth platforms.
- Ability to work 1–2 evenings and some weekends.
- Passion for helping individuals achieve and sustain sobriety.
- Empathic and exceptional ability to build positive relationships with people.
- A team player and able to lead with patience and flexibility - we’re a startup with change happening frequently as we continuously build improvements into our services and systems.
- Must have a private location, free of interruptions, to conduct remote work and comply with HIPAA regulations.
