We have an exciting opportunity for a maternity cover fixed-term contract to join our finance team. As our Assistant Accountant, operating within a team of four you will be responsible for the core transactional processes, in addition to providing reporting internally and externally, and supporting the Head of Finance with month-end.
This role is fully remote based in South Africa, working with a finance team based in UK and South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Finance with month end work
- Turnover calculations and analysis
- Cost month-end accounting and analysis
- Stock accounting: stock valuation, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis
- Balance sheet control and other key reconciliations
- Accurate management and inputting of data into various internal company spreadsheets to enable the accurate management of inventory including VAT rates
- Cost partnering departmental heads, as part of the month-end accounts process, and rolling forecasting
- Supporting the CFO and Head of Finance to create streamlined and efficient finance processes, whilst maintaining and improving the control environment
- Provide support for audit
- Ad hoc duties as required
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced Finance role ideally working with stock
- AAT or ACA qualifications (or working towards) would be an advantage
- Previous experience using Xero software and G-Suite would be an advantage
- Excellent organisational, problem solving and analytical skills
- High attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Sensitivity to the confidential nature of financial information
