RHEL Distribution team is looking for a junior Software Engineer to join us in Brno. In this role, you will aid in enabling the smooth production and rapid release of Red Hat Software and significantly contribute to the business strategy of market leadership in hybrid cloud technologies. You will be joining a cross-functional team in the midst of exciting project development.
Red Hat Software Production is responsible for building and shipping Red Hat software to customers. The team consists of Software Engineers, Release Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers and Managers. Together they build and operate the machinery that manufactures Red Hat products. As an engineer on this effort you will be expected to work in an Agile environment to help keep our products and services modern and up to the task of building and shipping the latest Red Hat technologies. We’re looking for engineers who are interested in working with OpenShift, operating systems, continuous integration, and more.
What you will do
- Learn and understand the technologies involved
- Complete tasks on a given timeline
- Communicate project progress which may include delays or changing completion date
- Ensure test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
- Function as a member of a scrum team
What you will bring
- Development experience in Linux environment
- Experience with Linux command line tools and utilities; knowledge of shell (Bash) and command line text processing
- Practical experience with Python programming language
- Ability to code and learn new programming languages
- Solid written and verbal English communication skills
Considered as plus:
- Experience with Git and concepts of source code management
- Experience with Continuous Integration / Delivery
- Knowledge of Message Bus, and Database technologies is a plus
- Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift or containers in general
- Exposure to tools like Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Ansible, Jenkins, Bugzilla, Koji, Pulp is a big plus
- Understanding of how Open Source and Free Software communities work
- Experience with code-reviews
