About the job

The Red Hat Global Employment team is looking for a Labor Relations Manager to support our business activities in Austria. In this role you will serve as the primary point of contact for all things labor relations, and be the subject matter expert consulting program owners and business partners on how to implement compliant change management, obtaining works council approval practices from consultation through to co-determination.

The associate can be based in Austria or Germany.

What you will do

  • Serve as primary point of contact, and own work related to, works council election committees, works council relationship and requirement management in Austria.
  • Develop a strategic approach to works council relationship management, ensuring key topics of interest are appropriately managed.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and consult program owners and business partners on implementing compliant change management and works council approval practices from consultation through to co-determination.
  • Create templates, guidance and enablement for the People Team and other stakeholders (including senior leadership) as required, to enable compliant program/process/system delivery and change management for new and existing programs and processes.
  • Research and conduct risk assessments on collective labor law topics, partnering with other stakeholders including Red Hat Legal to deliver advice and recommendations.

What you will bring

  • Legal or law related Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience performing council-focused HR roles OR experienced HR professional with extensive experience in working through legal works council topics.
  • Experience working in a matrix-structured US company.
  • Experience partnering with legal functions to draft and review legal documents, especially works council agreements and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).
  • Substantial experience processing complex data and information to derive conclusions, insights, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Comprehensive understanding of collective labor law in Austria, with the ability to implement legal requirements into existing and new corporate programs and processes.
  • Ability to build credible relationships / partnerships across multiple functions with international partners at varying levels of seniority in the company.
  • Proven success in negotiating with works councils.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize shifting demands.
  • Detail-oriented with solid research and analytical skills while seeing the big picture and being able to think strategically.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills in German and English.
  • Project management skills is a plus.
  • Experience with the European Works Council is a plus.
