Beep is on the forefront of autonomous technology, and we’re hiring for a unique, but critical role with our Company. The AV Field Engineer is a member of our AV Operations team, reporting to the Director of QA & Deployments. This role will ensure Beep's fleet of Autonomous Vehicles are delivered, routed, and operate in excellent working order to both maximize customer service uptime and provide safe, reliable service to our customers. The primary duties of this role include work to design, map, and program autonomous geo-fenced routes. Additionally, the AV Field Engineer will assist and lead the technical relationship with various vendors, support maintenance topics, vehicle inspections, verifying completed maintenance, aftermarket modifications, work with vendors to resolve any issues that limit shuttle autonomous route function & support advanced troubleshooting of the automated drive systems (ADS).

This is a full-time position based in our headquarters in Orlando, FL.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead technical field work to include: LiDAR mapping, creation of autonomous route planning, sensor calibration, general robotics maintenance, & other level 1 & 2 technical tasks assigned
  • Diagnose & resolve issues with Beep’s fleet of autonomous vehicles, in the field or working remotely.
  • Work closely with & lead external vehicle vendors to launch projects and resolve ADS related
  • Partner with the Beep Command Center to assist in diagnosing ADS related
  • Manage effects of vendor software updates to Beep’s autonomous vehicles, verifying safe operation in coordination with Federal, State, Local, and Customer regulations or requirements
  • Fully documenting work completed, developing technical documents, and sharing reports cross functionally.
  • Effectively organize work across multiple priorities and programs; ability to adapt to constant-changing work environments
  • Collaborate with sales and pre-sales to determine route and vehicle capabilities during contract negotiation phase for new locations
    • Present and create technical documents (SOPs, excel spreadsheets, data)
    • Maintain vendor commissioning certifications (training provided)

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with proprietary software to diagnose issues and calibrate vehicle components
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Motivated to work in a high-paced, dynamic environment
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or company holidays
  • Self-starter, excellent problem solver, flexible, resourceful, process driven, and have a high degree of integrity and ethics
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest in emerging technology and mobility solutions
  • Preferred: 1+ years’ experience using C++ software, experience with Python, 1+ years’ experience with Linux & SSH commands

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in engineering, Technology, Computer-aided Design, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in the automotive or engineering industries with a focus on vehicular operations
  • Autonomous fleet maintenance experience preferred
  • Demonstrates a safety-first attitude

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and/or driving, predominately at night.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Travel up to 70%
