Join a growing Australian bookkeeping and payroll practice where your Xero expertise and bookkeeping experience will have an immediate impact. This part-time opportunity is designed to grow toward full-time as the client base expands, giving the right person genuine scope to develop with the business.
You will take ownership of recurring bookkeeping and payroll work, help strengthen internal processes, and enable the business owner to focus more time on growth.
As a Qualified Bookkeeper:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a similar relevant discipline.
Qualified/certified Bookkeeper is highly desired. 2–3 years of proven bookkeeping experience, including transaction processing and allocation, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and maintaining accurate financial records.
-Strong proficiency in Xero is essential and non-negotiable.
-Strong Microsoft Excel skills are highly desirable. Comfortable using Gmail and Google Workspace for day-to-day communication.
-Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and general accounting principles.
-Dependable, accountable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Organised and able to manage recurring work across multiple clients and deadlines.
Willing to learn client-specific processes and contribute to documenting and improving procedures as the business grows.
Your Responsibilities as a Qualified Bookkeeper would be:
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients using Xero.
Process and correctly allocate client transactions to a high standard.
-Complete bank and account reconciliations and identify discrepancies or errors for escalation.
-Process payroll accurately using supplied timesheets and client information.
-Maintain accurate electronic client records and supporting documentation.
-Assist with recurring financial reporting and prepare information required for management reporting. Use Excel for workpapers, reconciliations, schedules, and other supporting financial information where required.
-Follow established client procedures and learn individual client requirements during onboarding and training.
-Help document workflows and develop practical procedure documents as processes are established. Communicate clearly with the business owner regarding outstanding information, discrepancies, deadlines, and completed work.
