In this role, you will spearhead the development and validation of complex BI solutions, ensuring data-driven decision-making is at the core of our operations. Your expertise in big data technologies will be vital in shaping our analytical landscape, allowing you to leave a lasting impact on our cross-functional teams and business strategies.

What you’d be doing:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of BI Developers, providing guidance and support on best practices, data modeling, and data visualization.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior and executive management on the status and progress of BI initiatives, including performance metrics, project status, and resource utilization.
  • Lead the development and implementation of business intelligence strategies that support organizational goals and objectives.
  • Engage in all stages of BI project development, from initial requirement gathering and data analysis to report generation and comprehension of business processes.
  • Collaborate with business users to understand their needs and develop BI solutions that bolster our decision-making capabilities.
  • Develop and execute ETL processes using SQL and Python (where appropriate) to convert business requirements into structured data sets.
  • Innovate and implement automation processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and create scalable datasets.
  • Collaborate with BI and Data Warehouse teams to align solutions with business needs and maintain data source integrity.
  • Formulate comprehensive automated testing frameworks to maintain data integrity and address both operational and strategic BI requirements.
  • Experience leading teams.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, or related areas or equivalent job experience.
  • Experience in SQL, Python, and other programming languages.
  • Proficient in crafting analytical solutions using leading BI tools like Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, and DOMO.
  • Demonstrated success in executing BI projects from conception to deployment, including reports, cubes, dashboards, and documentation.
  • Mastery in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Strong skills in requirement elicitation and BI solution architecture.
  • Experience in mentoring team members and translating complex business requirements into technical specs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Adept at testing datasets for precision and implementing automated checks.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Experience in the Insurance industry, specifically with Property & Casualty data systems.
  • Proficiency in AWS infrastructure (Redshift/Athena) or similar platforms (Snowflake etc).
  • Hands-on experience with DOMO.
